Learn MoreAligning with our core values of diversity and relationships, Collingwood College offers a dynamic and vibrant International Student Program, with students from all corners of the world including Vietnam, China, Iran, Germany, France, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Brazil, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Upon arrival to Australia and Collingwood College, international students will undertake a comprehensive Orientation Program as part of the enrolment process. This ensures that students receive ongoing assistance and well-being support as they transition to studying at a new school in a new country.
Collingwood College has been operating as an accredited provider of tuition, care and support to international students since 1995 and continues to successfully meet all government requirements and standards.

Established in 1882, Collingwood College is one of Melbourne’s oldest and finest schools. The inner-city school fosters a friendly, supportive, stimulating and culturally diverse learning environment that motivates students to accomplish personal learning goals. The college’s international students are diverse, coming from many different countries. Every student is passionately encouraged to be their best and strive for academic excellence. Our dedicated English language Centre was established in 2019 and provides 20 weeks of intensive English language tuition to small groups of newly arrived students.
All international students have a team of dedicated staff to help with their transition and assimilation into Australia and Collingwood College. We invite our international students to attend weekly Home Group sessions focusing on developing essential skills for learning and life. The sessions include activities including goal setting, mindfulness, organisation, time management, and diverse learning and well-being strategies.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes and support is provided for all international students from Years 7-10 and for eligible VCE students. Additionally, English Extension is offered at Years 9 and 10. A weekly afterschool Homework Club facilitated by tutors at the school library, is also accessible for our international students.
VCE students can attend weekly Tutorial sessions designed at helping them build effective study skills and learning strategies that will assist them in their academic success and social development.
All new students will also partake in a Buddy Program where they are teamed with another student to assist with the transition into our school and to encourage friendships.
Collingwood College is the closest school (1.5km) from Melbourne’s CBD that accepts applications from international students. Easily accessible via well-served train, tram and bus services, the suburb of Collingwood is a central hub of the Melbourne metropolitan area.

Learn MoreTo make the most of their educational experiences and maximise their academic potential, we strongly encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities available at the school. We believe that active participation in these activities allows students to develop lifelong skills and enriched relationships.
Available extra-curricular activities at Collingwood College include environmental and art clubs, debating, and music/performance opportunities. A range of unique activities and clubs are also offered on a term by term basis.
In addition to educational experiences and curriculum related excursions/incursions, our international students have access to activities that enhance their understanding of Australian life and culture. Examples of activities available include the celebration of the Lunar New Year, a Welcome Picnic, a water park excursion, snow trips, and collective birthday party celebrations.
Our Student Leadership Program provides students, as well as International Students, with the opportunity to voice their opinions about issues at the school.
Available leadership roles that international students can raise their hand for include participation in the Student Representative Council, the International Student Captain and Vice-Captain, and Well-Being Year Level Leader.
