A Wharfie’s Story – performance this Friday & Saturday

As part of the primary performance arts program the students of Reggio Emilia class 3 / 4 would like to invite you to, two performances of their play A Wharfie’s Story. The first performance will be presented in the school’s small gym this Friday, 20th November from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. It would be wonderful if you could attend. The final presentation will be this Saturday, 21st November from 3:00 – 4:30 pm at Buluk Park, external to Library at the Docks, 107 Victoria Habour Promenade, Docklands. Both trams 11 and 48 travel directly to there.

Inspired by Jim Beggs’s autobiography Proud to be a Wharfie (2013), A Wharfie’s Story is a coauthored play that presents the often untold historical memoir of the men who have worked the wharves at Victoria Dock (known as the Docklands today). The play is a collaboration between Collingwood College students, choreographer Gerard Van Dyke and sound artist Joel Stern.

Both performances are free events. If you are attending the public event you are encouraged to bring a picnic and watch the performance from the lawn. Jim Beggs will be there to answer further questions. Should be a beautiful day. I look forward to seeing you there.
