Collingwood College Junior Playground – working bees

Dear Families,

We are kick starting 2015 with a few working bees to finish off some remaining tasks on the Junior Playground. Many of you have been involved already so it would be great to see you at the working bees again and also to welcome families who are new to the school – particularly the prep families, whose children use the Junior Playground most.

For those who are new, the Junior Playground has been designed by two parents, architect Paul Gardiner and landscape architect Tim Fitzgerald, with input from the school community. It has been built so far by a combination of parent and staff volunteers, with some key elements installed by builders. Many of the children have also helped shovel sand, push wheel barrows, plant trees, install mosaics, etc.

Three working bees are proposed for term 1. Dates are:

Saturday 14 February

Saturday 28 February

Saturday 14 March

Work starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm. Come for some or all of the day.

***Lunch is provided***

Jobs this weekend will focus on woodworking and painting. Help will be needed preparing lunch.

Materials will be provided and some tools are provided, however if you have wood working tools like drills, etc please bring them.

Kids welcome, however parents do need to look out for their safety.

Apologies for the short notice for this coming weekend – still getting back into the swing of school communications.

Please contact:

Paul Gardiner (,

Tim Fitzgerald ( or

Melissa Fitzgerald ( for more information.
